Covered Bridges
of Langdon, NH

Langdon residents have been most gracious in contributing to the food sales held by the Langdon Community Club and it is a tribute to their generosity that these events have been so successful in raising money for the Covered Bridge Project. In the small town of Langdon, attempting to raise the $125,000 for the restoration of the town's two covered bridges, the McDermott Bridge and the Prentiss Bridge, at first appeared to be an overwhelming undertaking, but community members decided that raising the money was something they could do, even if it took small steps to accomplish their goal .

Results of their belief in themselves is beginning to be seen in the improvements to the two bridges. Following an outline set out by Arnold Graton, a nationally-known covered bridge restoration specialist, both bridges have been cleaned and cleared of debris, a new roof has been installed on the Prentiss Bridge and a temporary cover will be installed on the McDermott Bridge while major restoration efforts are under way.

The Langdon Community Club thanks all who have helped to make their fund raising events so successful and hopes to advance the goal of the restoration of Langdon's covered bridges.
